Lost Colony by jrmalone Lost Colony by jrmalone
Kind of a Part II to my earlier "Baron Ros: Deadwoods" image

I mainly wanted to make a scene with some ivy creeping up a wall, and somehow this just came about. As usual there were about five different images that preceded this one - either the character was not posed right, the lighting was off, or it just plain didn't jive. So I started completely over and added the crack in the wall to give it some "umph" and mystery. Plus I turned the model away from the camera but looking back, as if hesitant, or proceeding with some level of fear or uncertainty of what may lie within the old temple.

----
Baron Ros is my M4 character morph, made in Poser.
Rendered in Vue 8; the ivy and plants were ecopainted (FUN! FUN! FUN!) with about 12,000 instances.
Postwork in Photoshop.
----

Thanks for looking! :)

Wow, the lighting is so nice! I like the building and the darkness that awaits behind the entrance. The vegetation is also a great touch.

This came out amazing Ryan, I love how the ivy is all along the path and then up to the opening of the wall. Awesome work Ryan, it looks like a photo :-) ::grabs his render button and runs off with a snicker::

Wow Ryan! Your getting really good with that EcoPainter! This scene is so realistic. It looks just like a sunny afternoon the way you have illuminated the scene. I like how you have posed your character too. Especially the way he is looking back. Just a thought, I wouldn't make his butt flat, hehe Give it a bit more curve and squeeze his buns together and his jeans will loosen naturally. hehe Just my thoughts on hunky butts! haha The foliage just looks so darn real, that is so amazing how you guys do that. Looks like an interesting cave. Wonder what's in there waiting for him?? Excellent work! :w00t:

Thanks Suzi! Yeah, I was joking about the butt thing - but I'll give that baggy thing a shot next time! :) I'm loving that ecopainter so much. There are some good plants out there with nice textures that look sharp and realistic - some of the others are good for distant scenes but look like crap up close. Lots of trial and error and I found the hollyhock and poison ivy look the best so far for ivy (the poison ivy was a gift from Bjorn) :)

Thanks! hehe Well, maybe on Orion it doesn't have the same reaction... :la: Or maybe I can find the right color in PS of Calamine Lotion and smear it on like when I was a kid. hehe I think I got into that stuff once a week. Once, my sisters and I thought it'd be cool to shimmy along an ivy-covered tree that had fallen during a storm, only later realizing that the ivy turned out to be poison ivy. Oops! LOL! Wow, Mom was pissed and we were itchy messes all over! Ah, good times... good times... :)

hehe, that's true, there atmosphere could make it act differently. haha Oooo, I hated that pink yucky Calamine lotion. Boo! As kids, we used to go play in the corn fields and there was a path of poison ivy right where we went to get into the corn field and we did not know what it was. Well, haha it did not take long to find out. I am so allergic to that stuff, I got quarter sized bubbles all over and Mom had to soak me in the tub with this weird medicine and then she would slap that calamine lotion all over me. haha I bet your Mom was pissed with you guys too. haha I don't think my brother got it or not very bad, but I sure knew to stay clear of that stuff in the future. haha Yes, childhood was a blast. Weeeeee! :icondoublehugplz:

LOL! Yeah, so I guess we've all had to get a little taste of it so that we learn to steer clear. Or else - Calamine Time! I hated the way that felt on my skin, and plus you couldn't scratch in fear of spreading the poison. Oy! ;)

Look at that. I love what you did with the eco painter! I don't even know how we functioned without it :) It looks like he stumbled across something old that the jungle reclaimed. I want to explore it!!! Great image!!! :boogie:

Haha ^^ You're welcome!
Actually, I don't think you should make his butt more flatt, but you should work n the jeans texture, so it looks more loose.
